How to Make Friends and Influence People:  A Bar Primer.  The meeting will offer recent admittees and curious newer lawyers a unique privilege - the opportunity to learn about the Alaska Bar Association and a new lawyer's potential role in it from some of the key professionals’ integral in the Association's development and continuing vitality.   Presenters include Executive Director Deborah O'Regan; Bar Counsel Steve Van Goor; Section/Fee Arbitration Coordinator JoAnne Baker; and CLE Director Mary DeSpain. They will address three broad issues:  what the Bar can do for new attorneys; what new attorneys can do for the Bar; and how the discipline system works.  Within these broad topics day-to-day questions will be addressed such as each presenter's role at the Bar Association, under what circumstances a new lawyer might contact each presenter, how to best approach communication with Bar Staff, and specific ways to get involved with various committees. Look forward to seeing you there! Phone-ins from other locations in Alaska are welcomed and encouraged.

Also, plan to attend the section-sponsored CLE “Trials of the Century,” on Friday, October 11, 2013, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Anchorage.  Please see the Bar’s website for registration.
