Administrative Law
The Administrative Law section meets quarterly. The section will meet on Monday, June 6, 2011, at 12 noon at the Bar office.  This will be the last meeting until the fall.

Best Practices in Filing Administrative Appeals.  Marilyn May, Clerk of the Appellate Courts for the Alaska Court System, will discuss what attorneys can do to avoid problems when filing administrative appeals. 1 General CLE Credit    

Also:  New section co-chairs will be elected.

Juneau Members:  You can attend section meetings at the Department of Law in the Dimond Courthouse (123 Fourth Street), 5th floor conference room.  Because the 5th floor is secure, access the meeting by going first to the department’s reception area on the 6th floor, opposite the main elevators. This location will be connected by conference call.

Bankruptcy Law
Chair Gary Spraker has notified us that due to the Memorial Day holiday, there will be no section meeting on Tuesday, May 31, 2011.  Instead, the Bankruptcy Section will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at 12 noon in the room 341 on the second floor of the Historic Courthouse.  Please note that the June meeting will be on a Wednesday in light of previously scheduled meetings in room 341. 

Bankruptcy Appeals Update:  Judge Ross, Kay Hill, and Gary Spraker will discuss the recent bankruptcy appeals decided by the Supreme Court, and the Ninth Circuit’s treatment of such decisions.  The next section meeting will be in September.

Property Law
The section will meet on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at 12 noon at Davis Wright Tremain (701 W. 8th Ave., #800).

Nominative Fair Use in Trademark.  Garrett Parks of Davis Wright Tremaine will be presenting on the topic of nominative fair use in trademark.  1 General CLE Credit.
