The Lawyers’ Assistance Committee (LAC) provides services to members of the Bar when it appears they, their families or colleagues are suffering from substance abuse. Most lawyers don’t know who they can turn to who will understand the unique challenges of fulfilling their duties as a lawyer while trying to retain control of their lives. Suzanne Lombardi of Nelson, Flint & Lombardi and David Houston of Houston & Houston – both members of the Lawyers Assistance Committee - will be the guests. They will share the valuable resources available confidentially at no cost to Alaska Bar members. This peer support can have a significant impact on a lawyer’s health and can significantly aid in the protection of clients’ interests. This session qualifies for 1 ethics credit under Bar Rule 65.  1 Ethics CLE Credit.
The LAC is trying to get the word out about the committee.  One way is through section meetings.  Other sections have had LAC members speak and found the information highly valuable.
