1:45 p.m. Subsistence/Land/Trespass

This session will cover the challenges of private land management & trespass control in Alaska; including Ahtna’s interaction with the general public, and state & federal agencies on the issue of trespass on their private lands. Kathryn will share Ahtna’s efforts to work collaboratively with government agencies, including the State Troopers, on trespass control measures. Also being discussed is the recent legal, administrative and political developments for Alaska Native hunting and fishing rights. The presentation will focus on the past year’s state and federal court decisions, policies and regulatory decisions by state and federal agencies, and federal and state political issues.

3:00 p.m. ANCSA Conveyance of Contaminated Land

The panel will address the conveyance of contaminated lands to Alaska Native Corporations pursuant
to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act and potential legal exposure associated with the cleanup of those lands. The panel will also provide practice tips for those dealing with this issue.
