CLE from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Reception 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Co-sponsored by Seattle University School of Law, University of Alaska Anchorage and the Alaska Bar Association

While lawyers are trained to be adversarial, as leaders in the community, they have a responsibility to be collegial. Dean Mark Niles, an accomplished scholar and a lawyer committed to civil discourse, will discuss the benefits of maintaining collegiality even within the adversarial arena. Dean Niles will discuss the commitment lawyers have to maintain civility within their communities, the legal profession and to each other, and how law schools should instill those values at the beginning of a lawyer’s training.

Alaska Governor Sean Parnell, a 1987 graduate of Seattle University School of Law, will provide remarks at the reception, immediately following the CLE, along with Dean Niles and UAA Provost Michael Driscoll.
