Certified the results of the July 2003 Bar Exam.
Agreed to try one Multi-state Essay Exam (MEE) from NCBE at no charge for the February exam.
Voted to add language to the Bar Exam application which states that the applicant's purpose in taking the Alaska Bar Exam is for admission to the Alaska Bar only.
Voted to approve three applicants for reciprocal admission.
Voted to accept a stipulation for a public reprimand.
Voted to publish proposed amendments to ARPC 1.2, 4.2 and 4.3 regarding unbundled legal services.
Voted to budget up to $103,000 for pro bono coordination activities for 2004; to direct the Executive Director to investigate setting up a 501(c)(3) organization, the budget and structure for such an organization and quantifiable goals.
Voted to reduce the Bar Rag to a quarterly publication; voted to reduce the number of Board meetings from 5 meetings a year to quarterly meetings.
Voted to eliminate the required listing of courses taken for VCLE by Bar members and thus eliminate the record keeping expenses; and to set the VCLE discount at $20/year.
Voted to fund the Alaska Law Review through the end of the academic year and to investigate publishing an annual Law Review (instead of semi-annually.)
Voted to increase Rule 81 fees to be the same as Active Bar dues.
Voted to increase CLE fees to $100/half day and $150/full day; and to increase the annual convention fee to $225.
Voted to increase Section fees to $15 for each additional Section.
Voted to send an amendment to ARPC 1.15 to the supreme court, in which a lawyer would state whether the lawyer does or does not maintain an IOLTA trust account or does not maintain a trust account at all (i.e, because a government or organizational lawyer).
Voted to recommend to the Supreme Court that Gary Foster be suspended for three years, with one year stayed. In addition, compliance required with a probation plan; payment of attorney fees and restitution.
Voted to approve the 2004 budget as amended.
