Voted to certify the 52 applicants who passed the July 2007 bar exam.

Voted to certify 9 reciprocity applicants for admission.

Voted to approve the minutes of the September Board meeting.

Voted to have Ethics Opinion 2007-1 redrafted to address the hypotheticals as suggested by the board.

Completed the character investigation on a Bar applicant and recommended his admission to the Bar.

Voted to table Ethics Opinion 2007-2 until a future meeting when the Director of the Judicial Conduct Commission can attend.

Voted to send to the Supreme Court a proposed amendment to Bar Rule 6 deleting the obsolete reference to residency requirements.

Voted to send to the Supreme Court a proposed amendment to Bar Rule 5(3) providing that bar applicants may take the oath of attorney before any person authorized to administer oaths, and clarifying that any state or federal judge may sign the order of admission.

Voted to adopt a housekeeping change to Bylaw VII, section 1(a)(3) changing the reference to "Alaska Rules of Professional Conduct."

Voted to publish a proposed amendment to Bylaw VII(1)(a)(12) creating a new standing committee on the practice of law.

Voted to send proposed amendments to Bar Rules 34(b), which would allow attorneys to add binding Fee Arbitration clauses in their retainer agreements, back to the Fee Arbitration Executive Committee for further discussion of the issues.

Voted to publish a proposed amendment to Bar Rule 41 which would add service by e-mail as a permissible method of service in Fee Arbitrations.

Voted to approve Alaska Legal Services, Alaska Pro Bono Program, Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, and Alaska Immigration Justice Project as approved providers for the purposes of the Emeritus Attorney provision in Rule 43.2.

Revised the description of two of the Board of Governors awards.

Voted to uphold the decision of the Area Hearing Committee to issue a public reprimand in the Disciplinary Matter of James Wendt.

Decided to have the Bar President work with staff to draft a letter to the Supreme Court about concerns with the difficulty of administering the proposed MCLE rule.

Approved the amended budget for 2008, including a $10,000 grant for the Law Related Education Committee to distribute and $3,000 for Young Lawyer Section travel to ABA Young Lawyer conferences.

Voted to lower active member bar dues from $540 to $400 for 2008.

Voted to approve the Lawyers' Fund for Client Protection Committee's recommendations for reimbursement for three claims.

Voted to approve payment of $12,634.14 from the Lawyers' Fund for Client Protection to Richard Sutliff for his work as Trustee Counsel.

Voted to approve payment of $7,910.74 from the Lawyers' Fund for Client Protection to Dennis McCarty for his work as Trustee Counsel.
