Martin Luther King Jr. Day Free Legal Help Events

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which falls on the third Monday in January each year, the Alaska Bar Association and its partners host MLK Day free legal help clinics at locations throughout Alaska. In 2026, clinics were held in Anchorage, Bethel, Fairbanks, and Juneau. Check this page in early January for updates about the location and times of the next clinic.

No appointment is required. Walk-ins are welcome!

Volunteer attorneys will provide brief legal help to low to moderate income Alaskan in need of advice for civil (non-criminal) legal issues like family law, landlord/tenant, public benefits, employment law, probate, consumer/debt, and personal injury issues.

WHO ORGANIZES THIS?
These events are organized by the Alaska Bar Association in partnership with the Alaska Court System, Alaska Legal Services Corporation, ACLU of Alaska, and local bar associations. Many attorneys, judges, and legal professionals throughout the state volunteer their time on this day to serve fellow Alaskans in need of legal help.
